BOTOX

Botox is the abbreviation of botulinum toxin; it is a drug that consists of a low concentration of botulinum toxin. Botox® is a brand name that is now widely used to refer to all botulinum toxin products. At Amsterdam Cosmetic Clinic, we use Bocouture®.

Dr. Saloua injects small quantities of botox into the muscle responsible for the wrinkles or complaints, so that it temporarily stops functioning. The botulinum toxin has a kind of paralyzing effect on the muscle. As a result, wrinkles in that area start to fade and sometimes even disappear altogether. Due to the lack of muscle activity (the muscle doesn’t contract), the muscle becomes. Botox can be used to reduce wrinkles and lines as well as physical discomfort.

Below is a list of symptoms for which a botox treatment is a suitable solution:

Frequently Asked Questions About Botox

How long does a botox injection last?

You will start to see the results around 72 hours after the injection. The botox continues to take effect for a while, and after fourteen days you will see the best results. The body breaks down the botox after three to six months.

Some factors are known to affect the efficacy of botox: For young people with very thin skin, botox tends to last longer. For people with very pronounced facial expressions and thick skin, however, the effect doesn’t last as long. And for those who exercise intensively, botox often wears off faster.

Will I look fake if I have botox treatment?

At Amsterdam Cosmetic Clinic we are great advocates of natural beauty. This means that we will never send you home with a plastic fantastic look. We strive for a natural result, where your qualities are emphasized and refined. Dr. Saloua is a botox expert. She can calculate the exact amount of botox that is needed for you, which results in a natural and beautiful appearance.

When can I start having botox treatments?

All skin is different, so there is no specific time at which you should start using botox. But to give you an indication, the ideal age is between 25 and 35 years old. Botox is used preventatively, so it no longer works if wrinkles are already clearly visible. Always consult an expert about the options available to you in advance. In addition to botox, a treatment with fillers or a course of skin therapy might also be an excellent way to keep your skin nice and tight and smooth. We are more than happy to discuss your options with you. Feel free to give us a call or send us an e-mail for more information.

Do I need botox?

During a preliminary consultation, we determine whether botox is the right treatment for you. The cosmetic physician and the skin therapist will assess your needs and the various options available for your skin. This way, you can be sure that you’re getting the right treatment. Generally speaking, as soon as the first signs of fine lines appear, we recommend having botox treatment now and again.

Will I still be able to move my face after a botox treatment?

Yes, you will. Our goal is to always achieve a natural result. We are definitely not advocates of the frozen face look. The eyebrows in particular play a major role in your facial expressions, which is why we ensure that you can still move them. But we often tackle the brow so that you look less angry or stern.

Will my skin sag once the botox has worn off?

No, botox doesn’t cause sagging of the skin. In fact, it is your own skin that sags as a result of natural aging. Botox counteracts that aging process, so that you continue to look like yourself.

What can I do straight after my botox treatment?

You can resume your daily activities after a botox treatment. However, there are a number of precautions you should take into account in order to prevent complications. For this reason, you should observe the following aftercare instructions:

  • Do not exercise in the first 24 hours after your treatment.
  • Do not use the sunbed or sauna in the first 24 hour hours after your treatment.
  • Do not lie flat in the first four hours after your treatment.
  • Do not wear make-up on the day of your treatment.
  • Do not press on the treated area for 24 hours.
