WHAT IS ACNE?

Acne is a common skin condition. Some people only have a few impurities such as blackheads or whiteheads, while others suffer from severe inflammation, yet both conditions are referred to as acne. It’s a common misconception that acne only affects young people – you can also suffer from acne later in life. Excessive sebum production combined with an accumulation of dead skin cells can block the sebaceous glands. The acne that causes bacteria, P. Acnes, then multiplies in the sebaceous glands. Acne can have a huge impact on your self-confidence and your day-to-day life. Fortunately, these days there are some very effective acne treatments available.

WHAT CAN YOU DO YOURSELF TO COMBAT ACNE?

Do you have acne? Then there are also things you can do to help repair your skin. This can have a huge impact on the effects of the treatments.

Be kind to your skin. After washing, carefully pat – don’t rub! – your skin dry. Keep your skin clean by washing it no more than twice a day.
Don’t use normal soap, dehydrating lotions, greasy body milk, or make-up on your face.
Use the right cosmeceuticals. We can advise you on what to use. Always protect your face with at least SPF 30.
Don’t squeeze or pick at your skin. This can cause new pimples, scars, and pigmentation spots.
Sunlight doesn’t help. Sometimes you might think that it does, because the acne is less noticeable when your skin is tanned. However, this dries out the skin, causing pigmentation spots and damage to your DNA.

LASER TREATMENT FOR ACNE

REGULAR ACNE TREATMENT WITH DEEP CLEANSING AND PEELS

Acne can be effectively treated with a combination of deep cleansing and chemical peels. During the cleansing we remove all impurities from the skin, such as blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples. We then apply a chemical peel, which removes the top layer of the skin. This stimulates cell renewal and soothes and evens out the skin. It is essential that the right cosmeceuticals are used. We use HydraFacial products, for example. We also use Skin Tech, SkinCeuticals, and ZO Skin health peels. We often start with a HydraFacial treatment, or do a combination of HydraFacial and other peels straight away.

WHAT KIND OF RESULT CAN I EXPECT FROM ACNE TREATMENT?

Your skin will be a bit red and swollen immediately after the treatment, but this will go away on its own. Impurities and inflammations start to subside immediately after the treatment.

HOW LONG IS A TREATMENT PROGRAM FOR ACNE?

You will need one to two treatments per week and a minimum of six treatments in order to get the best results. You may also need a follow-up treatment after three to six months.

PRE- AND AFTERCARE

For a successful acne treatment, it is important that you follow the pre-care and aftercare instructions carefully.

PRE-CARE

You cannot undergo this treatment if you are pregnant
You must not use retinol, glycolic acid, or other acids in the three days prior to treatment
Your treatment will not go ahead if you have an active cold sore
Before the treatment, use the products recommended by the skin therapist
Do not shave on the day of your peel treatment
Do not wax one week before treatment

AFTERCARE

Avoid sun expose for two weeks
Do not scratch or pick at the skin
Only use the products that we recommend and that are suitable for skin that has just undergone a peel
Use the recommended SPF cream
You must not have a laser hair removal treatment for two months
Do not wax for seven days after the treatment
Do not use retinol, glycolic acid, or other acids in the seven days after the treatment
