SkinTyte warms the deeper skin with infrared light and stimulates the collagen response. It targets mild to moderate skin laxity. The even warmth is often experienced as a warm skin massage.
You can also book SkinTyte as a standalone treatment at our clinic. We often recommend combining it with Forever Young, so we can work on a more even complexion and greater firmness together. A standalone firming course generally requires several sessions, with improvements developing gradually.
Exilis is another skin-firming option at our clinic. SkinTyte uses infrared light; Exilis uses radiofrequency. During your consultation, we advise which approach suits your skin and treatment area.

Which skin concerns can BBL treat?
BBL is used for concerns including sun spots, uneven pigmentation, diffuse redness and visible fine vessels. It can contribute to a fresher appearance and improve fine skin texture. The neck, décolletage and hands can also be assessed for treatment.
Does BBL treatment hurt?
BBL HERO is generally well tolerated. You feel short, warm flashes of light, and the cooled handpiece helps keep the skin’s surface comfortable. When targeting vessels, a flash may briefly feel like an elastic band snapping against the skin.
The SkinTyte component provides an even, deep warmth that many people find pleasant, similar to a warm skin massage. Rapid pulses, contact cooling and carefully tailored settings allow us to work on skin improvement with your comfort in mind.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on your skin, the concern and your goal. An initial improvement may be visible after one treatment, but a course is often needed. Our current treatment approach generally involves 3–4 sessions, approximately four weeks apart. Personalised advice and any maintenance are discussed during your consultation and review.
When will I see results, and what will my skin look like at first?
Immediately after treatment, the skin may be red, warm or slightly swollen. Dark spots may initially darken, then flake or fade over the following days to weeks. Your complexion improves gradually. Avoid scheduling treatment immediately before an important occasion.
Can I get on with my day afterwards?
Many people can quickly resume their usual daily activities. You receive specific aftercare guidance covering skincare, make-up, exercise and heat. We tailor this to your skin’s response.
Does BBL help with rosacea, couperose and visible red vessels?
BBL can reduce visible vessels and persistent redness, helping the complexion look calmer and more even. For couperose or rosacea, we assess suitable light settings and treatment areas. As rosacea can fluctuate, skincare and any maintenance are also part of the plan.
How long do BBL results last?
The reduction of existing dark spots and vessels can remain visible over the long term. Sun exposure and new skin changes still play a role. Daily SPF, suitable skincare and a personalised maintenance schedule help you preserve a fresh appearance.
How much does BBL treatment cost?
The price depends on the treatment area and plan. During your consultation, we discuss the cost per session, any combinations and the expected number of treatments. View our current laser treatment prices here.
Is BBL suitable for every skin type?
No. Skin type, recent sun exposure or self-tanner, medication and the type of pigmentation all help determine suitability. Melasma requires a separate assessment. During your consultation, we also discuss possible side effects, such as burns, blistering and temporary or permanent pigment changes.
What should I do before and after treatment?
Avoid tanning, sunbeds and self-tanner around treatment, and use high sun protection daily. Tell us about medication and recent skin treatments beforehand; do not stop prescribed medication without medical advice. You receive personalised preparation and aftercare guidance.
Does BBL also tighten my skin?
Yes, our BBL treatment generally includes SkinTyte. This component uses infrared light to warm the deeper skin in a controlled way and stimulate the collagen response. It can improve mild to moderate skin laxity and help skin look firmer. We tailor its use and treatment areas to your skin. For more pronounced laxity or deeper wrinkles, we assess whether additional laser treatment, such as HALO or deep resurfacing, is appropriate. A laser plan always depends on the type and degree of laxity.
Does BBL help with enlarged pores and texture?
BBL can improve skin quality and fine skin texture, making mildly visible pores less noticeable. For more pronounced enlarged pores, deeper wrinkles or acne scars, we often add HALO. This allows us to match treatment intensity to your skin’s needs.
What is the difference between BBL, IPL and laser?
BBL is Sciton’s BroadBand Light technology and belongs to the IPL family of light treatments. IPL uses a broad light spectrum, while a laser uses a specific wavelength. BBL HERO combines filters, rapidly delivered pulses and contact cooling to target different skin concerns. We use BBL HERO; HEROic is a different version. Depending on your skin goals, we combine BBL with SkinTyte or an additional laser treatment.
